NEW LIGHT

On the third floor of the North building at RAYARD MIYASHITA PARK, NEW LIGHT offers a spacious, open dining room where meals can feel calm even in the heart of busy Shibuya. Sofas and booth seating sit alongside a terrace, with room to settle in around a table.

At lunchtime, one of the highlights is the NEW LIGHT Salad, which changes with the seasons. Roast beef, kale, beetroot, chickpeas and ratatouille are among the ingredients gathered on one plate. It comes with fragrant, fluffy bread and makes a satisfying meal. Another appealing lunch option is a set built around pasta, such as slowly simmered Bolognese, with bread and a drink.

For a more leisurely afternoon, the seasonal afternoon tea is worth noting. Alongside an array of colourful sweets are substantial savoury bites, including mini burgers, pasta and savoury cake—a pleasing back-and-forth between sweet and savoury. Drinks are served free-flow, including herbal teas with a choice of aromas and Earl Grey, so glasses can be refilled while conversation continues.

In the evening, subdued lighting, the aroma of wood-fired cooking and wine lend the room a relaxed, grown-up feel. On weekends, DJ music adds another note, giving the restaurant a different character at different times of day. Wheelchair-accessible seating and toilets, along with a step-free entrance, also make the space accommodating for a range of gatherings.
